TvT Main Menu Black Screen Empty TvT Main Menu Black Screen

Post  Blackwatch Sat Apr 17, 2010 12:23 pm

Hi Folks

I too have, like many of you seem to have, troubles of getting TvT to run on my Computer.
My Problem is that the Main Menu is displayed as a Black Screen. Before entering the Menu, the Monitors resolution is switched for at least ten times, after that the Black Screen appears and the Mouse Coursor is constantly flickering at high rate. Game itself seems not to freeze as Music continues and Alt + F4 works too. No ErrorMsg presented as well.

Steps taken so far:
- Deleted Intro Videos (reduced Resolution Switch a lot)
- Installed the two DLL's mentioned on several spots into Win 32 (tried Game Directory as well)
but no effect...

My System Speccs:
OP System: Win 7 Home Premium 64Bit
AMD Athlon X4 955 BE
8 GB Ram

GeForce GTX 285 & 8800GT in SLI Configuration. Driver Version 196.21

So anybody has an idea?

Regards

Hi Balckwatch and welcome. Have you tried running the game in xp compatibility mode, xpsp2 may help.

Tried it but all I get is a load of ErrorMsgs ('Unable to initialize Sound Device', 'Unable to initialize Game Controller') followed by the Black Screen, except for no Resolution Change and Mouse Coursor stays on Desktop...

Try installing DX9c. Should not mess with your DX10 for the Operating System, but it looks for things from DX9c

Is it possible that SLI mode is causing issues with the game? Must say, you are the first I have ever seen running sli on two different cards!..but then again..I don't get out much lol

Woah! I didn't even notice that.
There's your problem right there!
You're not supposed to run SLI on anything but 2 of the exact same memory on the cards...see this FAQ

Well, they only talk about memory size and both cards have 1 Gig. But if thats the Prob, I guess I'll have to play it at university, as all Programs run fine till now...

You could always take out 1 card and see if that cures it.

Installing the two aforementioned DLLs has cured all of my TvT problems. If it has not cured yours, I have also read that disabling the AERO theme on Win7 has helped others. Worth a shot.
