World War 2 online
I logged into my old wwii online account and stumped up the £9.56 for a months play (paypal). Going to give it a revisit, this time as a tanker. I am just doing the basic training on the training server, i need the refresher course as it has been a while, though i am a Captain in the French army and a QM in th British Expeditionary Force. I will give you guys some feedback when I get into the battle proper, it might be for some of you I can also send out invites to people, where they get 2 weeks free play, if anyone want's one just ask. I have sent one to Tony and we had 4 hours on it last night, I have played another 2 on top of that. So 6 hours, so far for £9.56, not bad value for money.
Last night i took out a Panhard 178 on a recon mission looking for the enemy. I found them on a hill 5 kms from where I started, my plan was to flank the clown car and destroy it. I had not considered the me109 that had been called in to deal with me. Though the plane did several strafing runs I was doing well until he killed the driver. I was then stuck in a moving verhicle with no control over it. On a plus note I managed to shot the 109 enough to distract him, so he crashed into the trees.
By that time Tony had completed his basic training and we then spawned into the training server in our
Panzerkampfwagen_38(t) 's and went on a long drive to a French town to hunt down the enemy at a top speed of 20kph off road. Though the graphics engine is old it does a very good job of depicting the European countryside and with large view distances.
I am also adding some links in case anyone is interested. If you are new to the game you get a 2 week free trial. If you have an account and want to look me up I am jmurkz.
So if you are after a persistant wwii enviroment, graphics that are somewhere between RO and TvT then give the two week trial a shot.

About the game
Quick Start
This does not mean I have stopped playing TvsT, in fact I would say they compliment each other, same tactics, same gunsights, same view distance.
I am also going to work steadily on Unity engine.

Re: World War 2 online
Tony and I got some serious points last night in our PzKpfw IV Ausf. D from 3.Panzer, 1. Kampfgruppe, we were the fire support that helped the infantry cap a small French town (only infantry can capture). I drove, Tony gunned (two is the maximum for multi crew) and when the action picked up I switched to hull gunner. That had the enemy foxed, as Tony was dispatching a SOMUA modèle 1935 S to our right, the inf all flanked left not expecting our panzer to be multi crewed, what can I say, I cut em down . We got killed by a field gun, there were just too many to kill.
So a twenty minute drive and a 10 minute adrenalin rush, it was very good fun. We are now halfway to our first rank in the German Armee, we also both get the points for kills.

Well we went and made conntact with the enemy again, it is a very addictive game owing to the fact that there is that much you can do and in any form from Infantry
to A/T gunners ,flax gunners, tanks, aircraft, ships. Well everything and yes I know its a pay for game but its bloody good

Oh belive me it is, you have know idea where incoming fire is coming from, only by the sound of it hitting the vehical give you some indication
then you got to locate and engage the target. So yes it is good fun and can get quite intensive.

Re: World War 2 online
AAR:
Tony and myself did our first joint defend mission last night as part of 33.Infanterie 1.Kampfgruppe. We were tasked with defending a German held town.
We started our defence as it was just turning dark and stayed there until the sun was up again. The atmosphere was unlike any other game I have played, it is very immersive. Everyone around you is a player, so no ai.
The night started quite enough, with a few single scouts being spotted on the outskirts of the town and sporadic gun fire being heard.
Then the air raid siren kicked in and to coin a phrase "all hell let loose". You could hear the rumble of distant bombers and there fighter escorts, then the sound of the bombs whistling in. This coincided with the Allies ground attack, there was tracer fire, smoke and explosions everywhere and was just one of those gaming moments you never forget, I was grinning from ear to ear
